Copic Peacock Feathers

Good morning friends, another card from the Dare 2B Artzy Be Yourself stamp set that I would love to share today!

I wanted to get colors that were close to realism so I used a photo for reference. The stamp has just the right amount of detail so I could add a lot of the colors that you would find on the real peacock.

There is still time to participate in this month’s challenge. Just use bright colors in your work and make sure to submit your cards!

The beautiful stamp set that I used is the Be Yourself set.

Copic Coloring Skin with Stamp AnnieThing!

Hi Stamp AnnieThing friends and followers! I am sharing some Stamp AnnieThing inspiration and a little Copic know how with you today!

Ann , of Stamp AnnieThing, has asked that once or twice a month I give a few techniques with Copics on her amazing stamps and so that is the plan!

Today I have the second part of coloring this adorable Diana-Let’s Do Lunch image. If you missed it, last month I was coloring her hair, today I am coloring her skin. Lot’s of people ask if there is a “right way” to color with Copics and my honest answer is there are some ways to color that make you more successful and some tricks to avoid messes. But most people over time adapt how they are coloring to what works best for them. Watch a lot of tutorials, try a lot of techniques and make it work for you. On Diana I show you how to color her skin 2 ways working from light to dark with is very traditional from Copic manufacturers. It tends to be how we start beginners, you tend to have an easier time blending and see the magic of Copics quicker. The second portion of the video shows coloring working from dark to light. Several people shift to this Copic coloring technique after they have been coloring for a while and some start right off the bat with this, as much as anything because the blending happens as you add each color and they like starting with the darkest shadow areas and mapping those in first.

I promise I will not always be this verbose in my posts. You can watch the video and figure it out and always make sure to ask questions, happy to answer! In the mean time here is how Diana ended up on her card!

And here is a close up on Diana so you can see her a little better as well:

Here is a link to the video showcasing the Copic skin coloring:

One of the details I love about this little stamp is her hair, for fun I changed the area above her headband to look like a hat, but you can also color that as her her with a headband always fun to make a stamp work more then one way!

Stamp AnnieThing June Release Day 3

Don’t you LOVE technology? This was supposed to post on June 8th! It even says that on the page where I scheduled it and it did not go so here is a bonus from the June release at Stamp AnnieThing!

One more day of the June release peeks for Stamp AnnieThing. I love all three of the stamp sets being released this month, but I think I had the most fun playing with this one! Here is a look at what I created.

I always try to vary the skin tones of the images I color, it keeps me challenged and because of that it keeps the creative juices flowing! I wanted to do darker skin on this little girl so went dark with my Copics in E30, E33 and E35.

I also wanted to make sure that her hair matched the darker skin tone so turned the curly pigtails into poofs and made them curly! I’ll be honest I took me multiple times to get the look I wanted, but totally worth it, love how this little girl turned out! Hair colors Copic E43, E44, E47, E49, C9.

Then to top it all off I gave myself one last challenge I wanted her to look like she was sitting in water. So I kept the portion under the water lighter and then colored a VERY light BG0000 over the surface and a little bit darker BG13 to add swirls.  The other colors I used for the suit and the details are Y11, Y14, Y15, Y17, Y19, YR15, YR18.

Thanks for joining me this month for the Stamp Anniething release!

Stamp AnnieThing June Release Day 2

Welcome back for a second day of peeks of the June release at Stamp AnnieThing. Here is the card I created:

I love not only the stamp set that allowed me to add the Unicorn head and tail to my girl’s tube but I could have chosen a Flamingo head or just the plane tube. One if the DT members even made it look like she was floating in the water! So cool! And Ann thinks of all the details like a little hand holding on! I also used one of the new stencils from this month, I created the wave background by coloring on the stencil with a Copic and then used a paper towel dampened with Colorless Blender to brush the color onto the paper beneath. It ends up looking a little chalky.

Here is a little closer look at the stamp:

She is so crazy adorable! Here is a list of Copic colors I used: Skin – E00, E01, E21, E93, E23 Hair – YR31, E33, YR24, YR27, E35, Swimsuit and Accessories – RV52, RV63, RV66, V09, Y09, Y00, Y21, N1, N3, BG01, BG02, BV00, BV02 Ground – E50, E31, E33 Sky – B45

Thanks for stopping by! We will have more SAT inspiration coming tomorrow!

Little Bird from Dare 2B Artzy

Hello all you Dare 2B Artzy fans! How about a little inspiration to start your day.

I used one of the little birds from the Be Yourself stamp set and today I worked on watercolor paper. I know that usually you would hear no Copics on Watercolor, but it is beautiful! It blends easily on Watercolor since it is so soft, the trick, or what you need to know is that watercolor paper is VERY absorbent. It will use more ink than you normally would use on smooth cardstock. It is worth it to me so I still use it every once and a while.

Here is a closer look.

When you have a chance make sure to create a card for this months D2BA challenge!

The stamp set that I used for this card is: Be Yourself
