Happy May! Kraftin Kimmie May Release!

Woot! Woot!

Today we are celebrating all the wonderful new things in our MAY Release that are NOW AVAILABLE
in the Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps Shop!

Hello all thanks for stopping in today! I am playing with the new Fairy Village stamp set this month! I have been playing with some different mediums recently so believe it or not I am NOT coloring with Copic this month. I tried some colored pencil work this month!

Here is closer look at the art, don’t look too close though I need more practice at the Colored pencils 😉

I am in a bit of a unique situation this month. Some of you might have seen I am in the middle of a move from Iowa to Alaska. Over the next year I will call both states home for chunks of time. During the month of May I packed a home, and got 90% on a moving truck and on it’s way to Alaska, then packed the last 10% and moved it to an Iowa apartment. Then hopped in a loaded car with our dog and hit the road myself through Canada and up to our new house in Alaska where my hubby and two beautiful girls were already tucked in!

So why do I share this? Well…I had my art all ready with time to spare, but the moving truck had different plans. It broke down in Minneapolis and was 2 weeks behind. So when I went to find papers and card supplies this is what I found! Ha ha I knew it was there and sitting, the kitchen took priority.

So I apologize for no card, just some art! BUT I will be creating with this same set later this month and hopefully I will find a few fun papers to play with by then!

I am super excited to be sharing 4 cards today using the new A Slothsome Day stamp set from artist Melissa Baker-Nguyen! I created two of them and my beautiful, artistic daughter Lori created the other two!

I will start with the real super star, here are Lori’s cards. She used Copic Markers to color two of the images, then created a shaker card for one and a clean and simple layered cad for the second.

Then I created two cards as well 😁. I also colored my Sloths with Copics. I then created some fun background papers with ink drips and smooshes.

Here is a close up of the Copic coloring.

I also adored this mama and baby sloth pair and stole the shaker card idea from Lori to put my card together!

I’ll be coloring Live Saturday the 18th at 5pm EST doing a little focus on coloring hair with Copic! I will be using Kraftin Kimmie’s You Are Mer-Mazing.

Back to today’s inspiration! I decided to color today’s image in a no-line coloring style with my Copics.

I kept the background simple expanding the puddles under their feet and having the clouds clearing for blue skies above.

To finish the card I added some super bright and cheery patterned papers and a few bright and cheery acrylic dots. Did you know you can color acrylic dots with Copics? Opaque white and clear dots (or sparkly ones) can be colored to match your project perfectly!

So what did you create Michelle, you ask? Well I colored up a card for you today with the Party Piggies! Started with my Copics of course!

Here is a look at the coloring, the E2’s are used on the chocolate while the E3’s are used on the piggy’s spots. I think the rest is pretty self explanatory.

Next was getting this little piggy onto a card. With this month all about Birthdays at Kraftin’ Kimmie it was a must to pick bright cheery colors!

I wanted to get close to one of the details I added on the card. I have shared this trick before, but for those who have not seen it. I added a little party hat from the new stamp set onto the upper corner of the image above the sentiment and popped it up. Cutting this out was a bit of a challenge. Not only did I cut the hassles off entirely I worried if I tried to cut in between the tassels I would never manage to get them re aligned. SO I used a Copic marker to match the patterned paper below the tassels to fill in the area in between. Then used a very tiny piece of foam tape to pop them up right next to the hat.

It is a detail I would not see necessarily when just looking at the card, but it is a quick fix to a tricky spot.

I was lucky enough to get to play with the Happy Hummingbirds and the Chubby cloud stencil and here is what I came up with:

Other than the B12 shown above all the colors were used on the little humming bird. I took some inspiration from my friend Amanda and added some Fluorescent touches!

This card was quite the process, I masked the bird and added the clouds using the new Kraftin Kimmie Cloud stencil. Next I colored the humming bird with my Copics, then I masked the bird again and airbrushed the sky. Lastly I lightly wiped the clouds with Colorless Blender to get the Blue ink off the Nuvo Glimmer paste.

In hind site I should not have added the Glimmer paste over the sentiment, I thought it would dry a bit more clear.

I finished the card with a simple white card base and a window popped up over the image. I ran the window through my die cut machine with the cloud stencil and rubber matte to emboss the clouds on the frame.
