Get It Scrapped latest

Hello family and friends.  Well we are rolling right into November and through it quickly!  I have two layouts to share from Get It Scrapped and I believe I will have a third later this week.  As per usual my assignments seem to line up nicely in little batches.  Here is the first based on a fun trend right up my ally, DOODLING!  Yep I actually got to doodle all over my layout 🙂

Doodle re-mix

Merry Christmas by Michelle Houghton | Supplies: paper, bling, cardstock borders and stickers; SEI, markers; Sharpie, Zig Bic, Too Marker Products and American Crafts

I had so much fun drawing all over my layout and my photo.  I designed the layout very simply purposefully knowing what I was join got do with it, but it could have stood alone without the doodling.  Here is a before shot;

before doodling

I stuck with a tone on tone color scene with creams and golds kept the embellishing simple but still included all my elements of title, journalling, embellishing and keeping the design balanced.  But THEN I got to play!  I used 4 different types of markers to get all the pieces in place some are opaque and worked well on the photo where others did not so there was some experimenting on a spare photo.  The girls LOVE that everyone got crowns.  They both did a double take and asked when we dressed up like that and then Sara said do we all look like kings and queens?  I gave her a big hug and said you got it girl!  She was excited that she got the purple dress :-).  I have to say the Creative Team did a great job on this assignment and you will want to check out the other Marker Doodle Re-Mixes!

The next layout assignment was to add found objects onto your layout.  Not just found in your scrapbooking stash but found from the rest of your life.  I had the perfect page in mind and was excited to put it together.

Embellishing with found objects

In Loving Memory by Michelle Houghton | Supplies: papers, doilies, tag, brads, crochet flowers and die cuts; SEI, ink; Sharpie, chipboard letters; American Crafts, butterflies; my husband’s grandmother

There is not much to say here other than I have been saving these magnets to include on a layout about these amazing wonderful people that I am honored I get to say I am related to, even if it is by marriage only, it is still an honor.  Kathryn and Eugene are two of the most selfless, giving people you will ever meet and I am blessed daily by having known them both while they were still in their prime.  Eugene leaves a legacy of love in his amazing family, he is and will be missed.

As I type this it is snowing outside!

Happy Monday all!

  1. Lots of great pages here. You rocked the doodling, of course. I might have to give that a go sometime soon.

  2. Loved the crowns. I don’t think I have ever had the opportunity to be a queen! What a creative page! You changed a very nice family photo into something quite spectacular!!
