Water Soluble Mediums

01

Last Friday I had a fun new article post at Get It Scrapped.  I had a request for information comparing different water soluble mediums.  So you know me, I decided to show you the differences as well.  I compare watercolor paint, watercolor pencils, water soluble oil pastels and Gelatos.  If you have a chance and would like a little more information about these mediums I hope you will check it out!  Of course I also included layouts using all 4 of the different mediums created by Creative Team members at Get It Scrapped.  To see the article click HERE.

Weaving Washi

I needed a short break from that whirlwind of posting through January and into February so i took the week off.  But my next media technique tutorial is up at Get It Scrapped and I wanted to share!  This month I was playing with Washi tape which is a good thing since I seem to be slightly addicted to it if you look at the pile that is growing in my drawer!  Check out the tutorial HERE

This is a small sampling of the growing stash.  Weaving Washi is fairly simple and can use up some of that stash.  I give step by steps for two different techniques.  Amy Kingsford created a layout using one of the techniques and I created a layout using the other:

Then Christy Strickler shows off a whole new way to weave your Washi!  She posted the steps on her blog and you can see them HERE.

I hope you all are having a great weekend.  We keep getting told it is going to warm up and then getting snowed on!  We had 3 more snows this past week.  All 3 were not on the weather radar until they basically hit.  I know, I live in Iowa, but I really could be done 🙂

Happy Saturday!

Get Painty!

Today I had a fun tutorial post at Get It Scrapped about stamping with paint.  I know not that tough a concept but sometimes it is good to get a few tips.  Check it out HERE

Yummm by Michelle Houghton | Supplies:  card stock and letters; American Crafts and Kraft, tags; Inkssentials, paint; Ranger, ink; Copic, flowers and trims; unknown

I had a great time pulling this layout together.  I used two different stamping techniques on the tags then used my Copics to add a doodled frame and to color my letters to match.  The letters are a fabric covered chipboard that was made by American Crafts, you know Thickers.  I love them so very much and then they discontinued them!  Luckily I found a site that decided to put them on sale so I basically bought them out 🙂  He He I have several unopened sets waiting in the wings, Yeah!  They take color so beautifully and are a very nice size so you will continue to see them lots in a rainbow of colors!

Christy Strickler joined me again as well and blew my socks off one more time with her creativity!  Make sure to take a peek at the article!

Thanks for stopping by!  More on CHA to come!

Media onto Layouts – Gelatos

I am starting a new series of tutorials over at Get It Scrapped!  It is all about how to use different mediums on your layouts.  I am going to do one tutorial a month and cover a wide range of materials.  This month I am taking a look at Faber Castell Gelatos and using them as water colors.  Next month we will stick with Gelatos and explore some of the other things they can do.

You can see the steps I have used to create a water color look on my layouts HERE and here is the layout I created using one of the water color techniques I talk about in the tutorial:

10  North Shore by Michelle Houghton | Supplies: cardstock and twine; American Crafts, die cut, patterned paper and sticker letters; SEI, flowers; Gueen and CO., Stickles; Ranger, Gelatos; Faber Castell

Some of my Creative Team members at Get It Scrapped contributed their art work as well.  Both  Christy Strickler and Marcia Fortunato created beautiful layouts using Gelatos, thank you ladies for sharing your work!  Please check the tutorial to see their wonderful layouts HERE
