We are up and running!

School has started here at our house and the girls are both loving their new classes.  Lori is in 4th grade this year and Sara is in 6th, which around here means middle school!  They are both having fun and were ready to go back so the world is a happy place!

On Monday I got to share a layout at Get It Scrapped featuring a Venn Diagram.  If you are not sure what that is I’ll bet you will recognize it when you see it!  We learn all about them in early grade school as a way to organize stories and ideas.  Circles interlocking and overlapping showing how things interact.

Venn Diagram

I have told tidbits of how John and I met through several layouts over time and this seemed like a great opportunity to share a little more.  I used acrylic paint and a cardboard ring to create my Venn Diagram and I love how loosey goosey it turned out and the fact that I could place it right on top of the photo as well was a bonus.  I just realized that in the photo the vellum tags do not look the same as in real life.  The big navy looking tag above the photo is actually a teal color that is similar in hue to the ring and both orange tags are considerably darker in the photo as well.  Hmmmm… not sure why that got thrown off so much but oh well.  I loved how the Creative Team explored different styles of diagrams and uses for them.  Take a peek at all the inspiration HERE

Get It Scrapped is currently running an amazing deal!  You can get a 25% off discount to the monthly subscription through next Friday HERE and check out this sneak peek at what is coming up in early September!

In the mean time I am crazy busy trying to catch up on the house design team and Copic work and writing a few new classes and a few appointments I was holding off to do.  It is all keeping me out of trouble that is for certain!

Happy Friday!

Jump for JOY! I am on the Copic Team!

I am thrilled to announce that I have been asked to join the amazingly talented team at Imagination International Inc. to teach Copic workshops.  I love Copic and all that the markers and inks can do.  I have been teaching live and on-line Copic classes and tutorials for several years now and could not be more tickled to be joining the amazing team that shares this amazing product.

If you have not been to my blog or seen my work before here are a couple recent pieces that I love:

Live Love Create

I enjoy mixing Copics with other mediums.  On this card the stained glass window is Copic ink on pearl velum, the stamp is colored with Copic and then foil and chunky glitter was added on top.

Apron 1

You might have seen my doodled apron in the past, I have been a doodler for years and adding Copic over gesso on fabric has given amazing results.

Jewelry 1

I have even dabbled in jewelry making with Copic and doodling again.

Of course what probably brought you here was my welcoming party that the Copic Team is throwing me!  So on with the festivities here are the details and the links to all the team member’s blogs so you can keep hopping and having fun!

The Copic Papercrafting Instructor and Design Teams would like to give a colorful “WELCOME” to the newest instructor joining us… Michelle Houghton!
Michelle has done a number of special events and demos for us over the years and we are thrilled to finally have her on our teaching team. Michelle has a BS in Fine Arts and an MA in Teaching with years of experience teaching high school art, live workshops, and online crafting classes.
Michelle likes to work with a variety of mediums and styles, often experimenting and looking for unique and interesting ways to use them. We look forward to working with her and can’t wait to see her in action!
And of course we can’t have a celebration without gifts… so we are giving away some great Copic prizes!
Join us in welcoming Michelle by visiting each of the blogs listed below for a chance to win. Don’t forget to leave some love at each blog because EACH TEAM MEMBER will be giving away a Copic T-Shirt and a 7-piece Doodle Kit to one lucky winner.

RubberMoon and Copic In the Craft Room

Welcome back me!  I have been out of town for a week visiting the beautiful Levenworth, Washington area with my Mom and Dad.  We had a spectacular week with Pike’s Place market, river rafting, horseback riding, hiking, shopping and lots of spectacular food!  The weather could not have been more beautiful and we soaked in the family time!

photo-2

SO being out of town now I have a little catch up work to do!  BUT first let’s start with what is going live today!  I have 2 tidbits to share that popped up on the internet today.  The first is a new tutorial over at RubberMoon.  I have to say it have been fun getting some stamp time in again.  It had been way too long and RubberMoon stamps are beautiful and lend themselves to creativity.  For this particular tutorial I decided to do a little cleaning and playing all in one.  Check out the details HERE.

Then I was featured in a little post at the Copic in the Craft Room Facebook page.  You can check it out HERE.  The work that was featured was the Bokeh technique that I used for a layout at Get It Scrapped.  You can see that particular article HERE and If you want to see my post about how it was created check HERE.
